Overview


We have an exciting role becoming available as Lead Chef at our new kitchen, at The Buttermarket in Redruth. Reporting to, and working closely with; our Head and Sous Chef (who are largely based in Penryn) you will be responsible for the day to day running, service, kitchen operations and development of Bango Kitchen at The Buttermarket.

Duties



Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring that all food is prepared to the highest standards, menus, daily specials are organised, exciting, well planned and costed. Pro actively look to organise events and support the Buttermarket's calendar of events with relevant specials and menus to suit the occassion! Supervise and train kitchen staff, promoting teamwork and collaboration by supporting and upskilling the FOH person on shift with you. Plan and create innovative menus that reflect seasonal ingredients, Buttermarket business levels and reflect Bango Kitchen in terms of quality, vibrancy and consistency. Manage food inventory, ordering supplies as needed daily and weekly to maintain stock levels. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the kitchen. Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service during busy periods. Assist in the development of new recipes and techniques to enhance the dining experience. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area at all times.

Skills



Proven leadership skills with the ability to self motivate, motivate others, deal with pressure and manage a small team.. Solid experience in food preparation and cooking within a restaurant and/or streetfood environment. Strong knowledge of food production techniques and culinary best practices. Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in all aspects of food service. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards. A passion for food, hospitality and delivering outstanding customer service. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively liaise with team members at The Buttermarket itself. Communication and organisation with our team in Penryn is especially important to enable you to be well supported with your plans for specials, help with prep jobs and ensuring you are always well supplied and organised for each shift.
This is a very important role within our business for us and it has the potential to grow further both in terms of pay, role and responsibility for the right candidate.

Whilst not absolutely essential it would be extremely beneficial if you hold a driving license as produce often needs to be bought onto site from Bango Kitchen in Penryn.

The Buttermarket food service times currently (subject to change) are:

Tuesday to Saturday - 12 - 2.30

Thursday to Saturday 5 - 8.30

Shifts tend to be between 10am - 4pm Tuesday and Wednesday and 10am - 10pm Thursday to Saturday.

We try to accommodate flexible working where possible and while you are not required to work every shift we would require availability and enthusiasm to work the majority of shifts Thursday to Saturday.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 13.75-14.25 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week
