Youngstock Rearer

to join our dairy unit in Gloucestershire

Our Farm

We are a family-owned dairy herd milking 350 cows 3X. Our cows perform at the very top end of UK performance and we focus on cow health, genetics and being the best we can be.

Your role

Working within our Youngstock team, you'll be responsible for:

- Working closely within a team supporting the dairy operations, including some occassional milking relief

- Working with transition cows to ensure passive transfer of colostrum

- Leading the calf and youngstrock team to deliver industry leading growth rates and calf health in our state of the art facilities.

- Being an active part of the farm leadership group to ensure targets are attained.

- Administer medicines and vaccines where appropriate

A Full UK Driving License is required. Experience of tractor driving and Telehandler license is preferred but not essential.

You

You'll be a positive and easy-going person, with a very high attention to detail and excellent communication skills. You will be confident and able to inspire and motivate those around you. You'll ideally have some experience working with youngstock and maybe cows, but this is not essential. We will train you to have a keen eye for prevention and early detection of calf and heifer health issues and develop a passion for the welfare and development of our youngstock.

Above all, you'll be a self-starter who is keen to continue to develop your skills and are ready to play your part in our team. There is also an opportunity for you to develop your skills both with livestock and also the wider team

Location

The farm is based on the edge of the Cotswolds but close also to the M5.
