We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Practitioner to oversee and support the delivery of high-quality childcare within our nursery setting. The successful candidate will play a vital role in guiding staff, engaging with children, and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment that promotes early childhood development. Responsibilities
Lead and supervise a team of childcare practitioners, ensuring adherence to organisational policies and early years frameworks.
Plan, implement, and evaluate engaging activities tailored to the developmental needs of children aged from birth to five years.
Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment that encourages children's independence and curiosity.
Support staff development through mentoring, coaching, and providing constructive feedback.
Maintain effective communication with parents and carers regarding children's progress and welfare.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
Contribute to the organisation's continuous improvement initiatives by sharing best practices and innovative ideas.
Skills
Proven management and leadership experience within childcare or nursery settings.
Strong understanding of early childhood education principles and child development stages.
Experience working directly with children, demonstrating patience, empathy, and enthusiasm.
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, capable of liaising effectively with staff, parents, and external agencies.
Childcare qualifications recognised within the UK (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent).
Knowledge of nursery policies, safeguarding procedures, and health & safety standards.
Ability to motivate and inspire a team while maintaining high standards of care.
Driving licence is desirable for facilitating organisational needs such as outings or staff meetings outside the nursery premises. This role is ideal for a committed childcare professional eager to lead a team in delivering exceptional early years education while fostering a warm environment for children's growth and learning.
