Mission:

\xc2\xb7 Reporting to the NPI Manager, lead a high-performing team to deliver product requirements Ensure Control and Coordination of the engineering design to meet specifications, ensuring cost-effective solutions that meet the prime cost & product requirements.

\xc2\xb7 Make engineering decision selecting the best solution to engineering problems

\xc2\xb7 Develop & motivate the engineering team

\xc2\xb7 Accountable for system design

\xc2\xb7 Work together with the project leader in development of project plans to meet project deliverables

\xc2\xb7 Support the NPI manager to ensure the team have the correct knowledge and identify training needs.

\xc2\xb7 Engineering risk identification, control and mitigation, escalate and to agree appropriate higher-level mitigation.

Main Responsibilities:

\xc2\xb7 Work with the project leader to understand and ensure plans are accurate accounting for engineering effort and skills set.

\xc2\xb7 Responsible for ensuring the engineering output meets the requirements as detailed in the project master specification

\xc2\xb7 Deliver the technical aspects of the product following the agreed specification.

\xc2\xb7 Guide consistency of engineering solutions across platforms and machine types

\xc2\xb7 Promote the use of new technologies and work with R&D teams (including IDA/Core Tech/Other technology centres and product companies)

\xc2\xb7 Champion modularity.

\xc2\xb7 Lead the system design intent, approve designs, calculations, and test specification.

\xc2\xb7 Ensure designs conform to required standards

\xc2\xb7 Own and ensure execution of all compliance, safety testing and type testing, reviewing, and approving reports generated by the engineering team

\xc2\xb7 Identify appropriate PCP engineering deliverables & ensuring they are performed for PCP gates

\xc2\xb7 Ensure valid work packages are created and approve work packages for project execution

\xc2\xb7 Lead by example, ensuring engineers follow safe working practices

\xc2\xb7 Help develop engineering process following the department needs

\xc2\xb7 Provide direction to all team members, leading and facilitating delivery of the product.

\xc2\xb7 Define, update, report on team performance.

\xc2\xb7 Preparation and organisation of engineering deliverables for all stage gates.

\xc2\xb7 Support independent project peer reviews.

\xc2\xb7 Team coaching and supporting individual development

\xc2\xb7 Line management of direct reports

Qualifications and Experience:

\xc2\xb7 A good Engineering/Scientific degree

\xc2\xb7 Experience of project coordination and management of teams

\xc2\xb7 10 years involvement in the process of product development in a high technology environment, 3 years\' experience leading engineering activities (ideally).

\xc2\xb7 Experience of project governance/ methodology

\xc2\xb7 Ability to manage complex engineering task - a understanding of delivering engineered solutions, to specification and on budget.

\xc2\xb7 Technical/commercial awareness to balance potentially conflicting commercial and technical drivers.

\xc2\xb7 Excellent IT literacy, being a competent user of MS office

\xc2\xb7 Develop relationships with internal and external customers / suppliers

\xc2\xb7 Leadership skills, high levels of energy with team engagement.

\xc2\xb7 Motivated to provide solutions, ideas and innovations in a positive way.

\xc2\xb7 Understand the broader business

\xc2\xb7 Passionate about quality and best practice whilst always striving for continuous improvement.

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of process improvement

\xc2\xb7 Detailed knowledge of engineering principles and standards relative to the role

\xc2\xb7 An attitude and desire to identify route causes implement long term corrective actions, including those for engineering, technical and process.
