We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Engineering Technician to join our team. As the Lead Engineering Technician on our PM shift, you will play a crucial role in supporting our engineering department by assisting with various tasks and projects. Days/Hours:
Monday - Thursday, 1430-0130hrs
Responsibilities:
Performing Preventive Maintenance:
Conduct regular inspections, lubrication, and servicing of machinery and equipment according to maintenance schedules to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
Identify and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and operational issues with machinery and equipment. Use diagnostic tools and techniques to pinpoint problems and develop effective solutions.
Repair and Maintenance:
Execute repairs, replacements, and adjustments on faulty components, parts, or systems to restore functionality. This may involve mechanical repairs, electrical repairs, welding, fabrication, or other specialised tasks.
Emergency Response:
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, malfunctions, or emergencies to minimise downtime and prevent production delays. Prioritise and address urgent maintenance needs to keep operations running smoothly.
Equipment Calibration and Alignment:
Ensure the accuracy and alignment of machinery and equipment by performing calibration, alignment, and adjustment procedures as required. This includes precision machinery such as CNC machines or production lines.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, maintenance logs, equipment manuals, and spare parts inventory. Provide regular reports on equipment status, maintenance activities, and performance metrics.
Support and Develop:
Coach and mentor shift colleagues in good working practices.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to safety protocols, regulations, and company policies to maintain a safe working environment. Identify and address safety hazards, implement safety improvements, and participate in safety training programs.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and efficiency enhancements in maintenance practices. Implement preventive maintenance strategies, reliability-centred maintenance (RCM), and other best practices to optimise equipment reliability and performance.
Qualifications and skills:
Minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience in maintenance and repair of industrial machinery and equipment.
Proven experience in being electrically biased, this is a mandatory requirement.
Strong technical skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Proficiency in diagnostic tools, equipment, and techniques for troubleshooting.
Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices, reliability engineering, and safety standards.
Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and mechanical aptitude.
Effective communication skills, teamwork, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
