Job Description

The role involves designing age appropriate training sessions inline with the programmes development model, leading delivery of technical and tactical training, player feedback and occasional match days.

Key Responsibilities

1. Session Delivery

Deliver High-Quality Coaching Sessions:

Plan and deliver structured training sessions aligned to the club's philosophy, focused on developing players' technical skills (e.g., ball mastery, passing, receiving, shooting) and tactical understanding (e.g., positioning, transitions, decision-making).

Session Design:

Create engaging, progressive session plans aligned with the club's playing philosophy and long-term development goals.

Player Engagement:

Ensure every session is interactive, challenging, and supportive--maximising touches on the ball and learning opportunities.

2. Player Development

Individual Player Focus:

Support players' growth by recognising individual learning needs and tailoring coaching points and challenges accordingly.

Multi-Pillar Development:

Foster holistic development across:

Technical:

Ball control, decision-making, skill execution.

Tactical:

Game intelligence, positioning, awareness.

Physical:

Movement mechanics, speed, coordination (in alignment with S&C staff where applicable).

Psychosocial:

Confidence, communication, leadership, resilience.

Matchday Coaching (when applicable):

Manage or assist with teams during fixtures, implementing team strategies and providing clear, constructive feedback.

3. Progress Tracking & Communication

Player Assessments:

Participate in the tracking and assessment of player development, contributing to reviews and reports.

Feedback to Athletes and Parents:

Provide ongoing verbal feedback to players and support structured parent communication around player progress.

Support Development Plans:

Contribute to the creation and monitoring of Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for players as needed.

4. Environment & Culture

Create a Positive Learning Environment:

Foster a culture of effort, accountability, and enjoyment. Ensure players feel supported, safe, and encouraged to express themselves.

Role Model Behaviour:

Uphold high standards of professionalism, respect, and positivity in all interactions with players and families.

Discipline & Safeguarding:

Maintain discipline in line with the organisation's code of conduct and always prioritise child safety and welfare.

5. Operational Responsibilities

Player Registration and Attendance:

Accurately record session attendance and ensure all players are signed in and accounted for.

Equipment Management:

Set up and pack away equipment before and after sessions, ensuring gear is clean, safe, and stored properly.

Venue and Session Management:

Ensure sessions start and finish on time, and that facilities are used respectfully and safely.

Emergency Procedures:

Be aware of and act according to the club's safeguarding, emergency, and first-aid protocols.

6. Professional Development

Stay Current:

Keep up to date with modern coaching methods, age-appropriate practices, and relevant FA/UEFA guidelines.

CPD Engagement:

Attend internal and external training or workshops to continually develop coaching knowledge and delivery.

Team Collaboration:

Work collaboratively with other coaches and staff to ensure consistency in delivery and shared learning across age groups.

Key Attributes & Skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly with children and young people. Deep understanding of youth development and child-centred coaching approaches. Organised, reliable, and confident in session delivery and time management. Ability to create an inclusive, high-energy, and purposeful learning environment.
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 12.50-22.50 per hour

Expected hours: 4 - 12 per week

Football coaching: 2 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
