The Role
We're seeking an experienced Lead Gas Engineer (Gas Safe Registered) with 4+ years' experience to join our national retrofit team. You'll lead on-site gas and heating works, ensuring all installations are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. You'll handle boiler commissioning, maintenance, and installation, as well as flue and pressure release valve extensions and external gas or plumbing pipework. Experience installing smart heating controls such as Radbots or smart thermostats, is required. Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage on-site gas and heating installation teams, ensuring safe and efficient delivery.
Commission, maintain, and install domestic boilers and heating systems.
Install flue extensions, pressure release valves, and external gas or plumbing pipework.
Fit and configure smart heating controls (e.g. Radbots, smart thermostats).
Ensure compliance with Gas Safe regulations, PAS 2035, and REFYT quality standards.
Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and quality checks.
Collaborate with project managers, retrofit coordinators, and other trades to ensure seamless project delivery.
Maintain accurate service records and compliance documentation.
Experience:
Gas Safe registered with a minimum of 4 years' experience in domestic gas and heating work.
Proven experience in boiler commissioning, servicing, and installation.
Competent in handling flue extensions, PRV extensions, and external pipework.
Experience with smart heating controls (e.g. Radbots, smart thermostats).
Strong understanding of domestic gas safety standards and regulations.
Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
Proficient in using project tracking tools and maintaining compliance records.
Education/Qualifications:
NVQ Level 3 in Domestic Gas Installation and Maintenance (or equivalent) - Demonstrates competence in installing, servicing, and maintaining domestic gas systems.
Certificate of Gas Training (City & Guilds or similar)
Gas Safe Registered
Requirements
Willingness to travel across the UK as part of national retrofit projects.
Manual UK Driving Licence
