At HUC, our Lead GPs are not only accomplished clinicians but also influential leaders and trusted advocates for excellent patient care. As a Lead GP within our Clinical Assessment Service, you will combine direct clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, ensuring patients receive safe, effective, and person-centred care. You will mentor and manage a team of GPs, supporting professional growth while fostering a positive, collaborative team culture. This is an excellent opportunity for GPs who want to develop their leadership skills while making a tangible difference in urgent care services.
You will be the go-to point of contact for your team, working closely with our Clinical Directors, Chief Medical Officer, and wider leadership colleagues to maintain high clinical standards and drive service improvement. This role also provides valuable exposure to governance, quality management, and service redesign, giving you the chance to shape care delivery at an organisational level. For GPs who are curious about leadership, passionate about patient safety, and committed to continuous improvement, this position offers both meaningful responsibility and strong developmental support.
Main duties of the job
Deliver high-quality patient care, including remote consultations and clinical advice to colleagues
Provide clinical leadership and direct line management for GPs in your service
Support induction, mentoring, and professional development of clinical staff
Oversee clinical audits, governance processes, and contribute to service quality improvement
