Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate
Lead Horticulturalist
to play a key role in the ongoing care of our newly built landscape projects and the development of large, high-end garden sites. This role is essential in ensuring that the gardens we create continue to meet the highest standards of health, beauty, and performance.
You will be responsible for maintaining newly completed landscapes, providing specialist horticultural input, and supporting our grounds maintenance teams with expert advice on large-scale sites. This position reports directly to the

.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver expert horticultural care and aftercare for newly built gardens to ensure successful establishment and long-term quality.
Conduct hands-on tasks such as planting, pruning, deadheading, lawn care, pest and disease control, and seasonal maintenance.
Provide horticultural support and advice to grounds maintenance teams on larger estate sites.
Monitor and report on plant health, soil conditions, and overall garden performance.
Adjust and refine planting schemes as needed to optimise plant success in varying conditions.
Liaise with internal teams and the Grounds Maintenance Manager to ensure standards are met and improved across all projects.
Represent Hortlands Ltd on-site with professionalism, maintaining our reputation for excellence.
Essential Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of hands-on horticultural experience, ideally within high-end garden or estate environments.
Recognised horticultural qualification (e.g., RHS Level 3 or equivalent).
Exceptional plant knowledge and strong understanding of garden establishment practices.
Confident in offering guidance and support to wider teams.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
PA1/PA6 spraying certification.
Experience interpreting planting plans and landscape designs.
Familiarity with irrigation systems and soil management on new-build sites.
