As a
Lead Infrastructure Engineer
, you will be a point of escalation for all infrastructure-related issues, providing 2nd/3rd line support for complex problems. This senior role requires extensive knowledge of hybrid environments, a strong focus on security, and a proven track record of leading critical migration projects. Your primary objectives will be to ensure the security and stability of the entire IT infrastructure, enhance monitoring and alerting capabilities, and act as a technical lead on strategic projects.
Work collaboratively as part of the wider AIS Team, drive productive ways of working, improve collaboration, enhance communication to achieve the AIS strategy.
Key responsibilities:
Security & Compliance:
Act as the primary point of contact for security hardening efforts across all systems. This includes advanced configuration and administration of Microsoft Defender, Fortigate, and other security solutions. Manage security policies within Azure Active Directory and Intune.
Infrastructure Management:
Oversee the administration and maintenance of a hybrid environment, seamlessly integrating on-premise Active Directory with Azure Active Directory using the M365 stack. Manage Fortigate and Meraki network devices, including complex VPN configurations. Administer certificate services and print services.
System Administration & Support:
Provide expert-level 3rd/4th line support for the entire infrastructure. This includes troubleshooting and resolving issues related to SQL Clusters, SFTP servers, File Servers, and Domain Administration. Manage and support Business Central.
Project Leadership:
Lead and execute various infrastructure projects, acting as the technical lead for migrations. This includes migrating file shares to SharePoint and planning and executing secure server migrations to Azure.
Cloud & Modern Workplace:
Administer and manage cloud services, with a deep understanding of Azure Administration and Azure Fundamentals. Leverage Microsoft Graph and Microsoft Purview for automation, data governance, and compliance. Configure and manage M365 Enterprise Applications. Implement and manage systems using Azure Arc to extend Azure management capabilities to on-premises environments.
Disaster Recovery & Monitoring:
Develop, document, and regularly test disaster recovery scenarios using Veeam. Use PRTG to enhance system monitoring and alerting, ensuring a proactive approach to potential issues.
Automation & Documentation:
Develop and implement automation scripts using PowerShell to streamline administrative tasks. Maintain detailed and up-to-date documentation for all processes, configurations, and project setups.
Deputy & Strategic Advisor:
You will deputise for the Infrastructure Manager in their absence, taking on leadership responsibilities and making critical decisions. You will also advise the Infrastructure Manager on upcoming change requirements and essential security updates, using continuous monitoring to proactively identify vulnerabilities and necessary upgrades.
Maintenance & Lifecycle Management:
Oversee the patching and version management of all hosts, servers, and applications, ensuring systems are up-to-date with the latest security fixes and performance enhancements.
What we're looking for in our Lead Infrastructure Engineer:
Experience
as a senior or lead infrastructure engineer, providing 2nd/3rd line support.
Proven experience
in migration projects, including host,server and file share migrations.
Ability
to build engineer and upgrade ESXI hosts
Deep knowledge
of a hybrid environment integrating on-premise Active Directory with Azure Active Directory.
Expertise
in VMware technologies and Fortigate/Meraki network engineering.
Strong proficiency
in SQL Clusters, SFTP servers, Business Central, and Domain and Certificate Administration.
Hands-on experience
with SSL Certificates, VPN, and print services administration.
Strong knowledge
of security hardening principles and best practices.
Proficient
in PowerShell scripting for automation.
Extensive experience
with the M365 stack, including Enterprise Application Administration, Microsoft Graph, and Microsoft Purview.
Solid understanding
of Azure Fundamentals, Azure Administration with Azure Arc desirable.
Experienced
with the following technologies: Veeam, PRTG, SCCM, Fortigate, Microsoft Defender, and Intune and Azure.
