This role provides an opportunity to develop a leadership role, leading a small team of complex injury lawyers with scope for further development and team growth.

The successful candidate will already be an experienced Complex Injury Lawyer, with specific experience in Large loss or catastrophic Injury Claims and in the Lead Lawyer role will continue to build their profile in this work type

, assisted initially by two assistants at various stages of their career development.

Aside from technical excellence and attracting work, a key part of the role is the leadership, motivation, engagement and technical development of those team members.

We are looking for an individual with a proven track record of successfully developing and motivating others to succeed.



The role also includes the need to interface with sophisticated senior claims handlers in long-standing insurance clients and responsibility for enhancing and developing Keoghs profile as well as your own as you work to attract work in your own right.

The ideal candidate will have existing relationships with or knowledge of DfE and MOD matters.





The role will be assigned to our Southampton office however, we welcome applications from all office locations



Key Responsibilities





Meet and build relationships will all key claims personnel at various locations throughout the UK Build on existing relationships with key clients including DfE and MOD as well as an insurer client Assist in the provision of training both internally and to key insurance clients. Manage a mixed caseload of complex injury cases, delegating appropriate work to assistants. Progress each file from the receipt of papers from the Insurer advising clients on all aspects of claim handling to include advice on indemnity, liability and quantum issues and claims resolution strategy. Make full use of the firm's Case Management System in progressing files from receipt to closure. Attend court in person or by telephone, attend trials, settlement conferences etc as required. Delegate appropriate work to team members and ensuring assistants have enough of the appropriate work to achieve chargeable hours targets. Leadership, motivation, engagement and technical development of the team to ensure achievement of objectives. A key aspect of the leadership role is taking responsibility for identifying any issues which arise around wellbeing or performance and addressing those issues with support from the Business Unit Director. Regular communication with the team, including but not limited to setting objectives and personal development plans, checking in monthly to confirm they are on track both in terms of performance and technical progress, holding Q2 and Q4 reviews etc. As you grow and develop your team, contributing to the recruitment and probation process.

The successful candidate will:Be a technically sound, experienced Lawyer with specific experience in Large loss or catastrophic Injury Claims Demonstrate excellent client care Be able to demonstrate an ability to encourage, develop and motivate a team Be confident, positive and enthusiastic in their approach to clients, the team and the wider business Be commercially aware of the business / industry we work in Have the ability to make decisions with all parties interests taken into account Have the ability & confidence to conduct their own advocacy Be proficient with IT systems Have excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
