Are you an experienced and motivated pharmacy technician looking to step into a leadership role in a specialist area? University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) is seeking a passionate Lead Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic team supporting women's and children's services, including maternity, paediatrics, and neonatal care.

What we're looking for:

GPhC registered Pharmacy Technician with post-qualification experience in hospital pharmacy

Proven leadership or supervisory experience, ideally within clinical or ward-based settings

Strong understanding of paediatric and maternity medicines management (desirable but not essential - training will be provided)

Excellent communication, organisation, and decision-making skills

A commitment to delivering compassionate, inclusive, and high-quality care



As the Lead Pharmacy Technician for Women and Children, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering and improving safe, effective, and patient-focused medicine optimisation within our specialist services. You'll work closely with clinical pharmacists, nursing teams, and multidisciplinary colleagues to enhance patient care and outcomes across our sites.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide expert technical support and leadership within maternity, paediatrics, and neonatology wards

Lead on medicines optimisation initiatives and safety audits within the directorate

Supervise, mentor, and develop trainee pharmacists and technicians

Champion service improvement and support implementation of electronic prescribing and administration systems

Ensure compliance with governance, policy, and legislative frameworks
