The Position





We are seeking a strategic thinking and collaborative Lead Platform Engineer. This is a leadership role where you will display and be our values as you will be responsible for a dedicated platform engineering team and represent Technology across the business.



While being responsible for the design and implementation of a secure platform strategy, you will also be responsible for supplier relationship management while assisting to forecast and monitor budgeted costs.



The ideal candidate will be passionate about communication and collaboration, continual improvement and will possess a 'can do' approach to their work.



You will have an automation-first approach to delivery, which considers security at every layer, and be able to design efficient cloud-based solutions.



We are a Microsoft-house with a focus on being cloud agnostic through evolution in our technology and tooling approaches. You will need to be familiar with Azure native, serverless, as well as Kubernetes. You will also be familiar with complex network infrastructure, which will consider governance and integration of modern identity in a secure hybrid-cloud scenario.



While your primary focus will be on Azure in the Cloud, if you have any Amazon Web Services (AWS) knowledge to help with our business continuity plans, this would be a good advantage.

What You Will Be Doing





Responsible for a small platform engineering team, conducting 1:1s, coaching and mentoring, including management of skills.
Setting out the platform strategy including design of secure cloud solutions working alongside our Enterprise and Solution Architects becoming the steward of our cloud infrastructure.
Be a leader in relation to Information Security, especially in cyber security and DevSecOps, providing advice and support to colleagues around the business.
Take a lead in continual delivery following an automation-first approach, including how we deploy software by designing CI/CD pipelines.
Promoting and maintaining good practice in relation to engineering principles, including TDD,


DRY & SOLID, to safeguard code quality and overall system design.

Evaluating new technologies to improve efficiency, security, and scalability
Building out proofs-of-concept to support technology evaluation or product pipeline research.
Providing expertise in enterprise level authentication security
Providing out of hours support such as for deployments and other potentially business disruptive works.

What We're Looking For





Demonstrable experience in leading a team, and managing budgets and suppliers, collaborating with Technology and Business roles to deliver strategic business outcomes.
5+ years of experience in DevOps and Cloud Native Infrastructure Development with significant focus on Azure.
3+ years of experience in Cloud Security / DevSecOps including associated tooling.
3+ years of experience in developing software in C#, leveraging MAC architecture principles. We use .Net Framework, .Net Core and .Net 8.
3+ years of experience in working with Azure DevOps
Expertise in Kubernetes (Azure), Cloud Compute, Storage and Networking.
Experienced in working with Azure CAF and Azure well-architected/secure frameworks.
Experience in designing and deploying cloud infrastructure using Azure Enterprise Landing Zones (ELZ), Azure Policy, Azure Local/HCI stack.
Proficiency in Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Familiarity with other IaC tools such as Bicep.
Knowledge of SOLID principles and their application in DevOps.
Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python, YAML).
Strong familiarity with Linux based operating systems for build servers and containerised deployment.
Familiarity with Azure B2C or federated account security is highly recommended.
Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to lead complex projects.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with Software Development practices in an Agile setting.
* Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) for business continuity would be an advantage.
