Job Descripton



Portfolio Planning



Develop and maintain the portfolio plan, incorporating key milestones from the project schedules and finance data. Conduct sensitivity and scenario analysis. Provide support to estimating and strategic planning.

Management Control



Take the lead in ensuring the portfolio has effective processes and tools in place to identify, monitor and resolve changes to project delivery. Establish and operate mechanisms to track portfolio delivery and update progress against the plan. Establish and maintain Portfolio KPIs.

Impact Analysis



Facilitate regular review and monitoring of all changes, and ensure all changes have an appropriate impact analysis. Demonstrate the impact of change and escalate changes where there is significant impact requiring a decision. This will include assessing change, identifying patterns and trends and understanding dependencies and risk.

Portfolio Design



Optimise the portfolio to align with strategic objectives and meet in-year financial and resourcing constraints. Manage portfolio prioritisation using existing model. Develop, maintain and provide expert assistance to the commissioning process whereby projects are added to/removed from the portfolio.

Reporting



Maintain the portfolio management dashboard. Provide a strategic overview of all projects, reporting anomalies, deviation or areas of concern to the senior management. Take a lead in governance/portfolio meetings. Produce relevant and insightful MI on portfolio performance and trends that can be used operationally as well as for higher level board reporting.

Risk Management



Pro-actively identify opportunities and risks in the plan. Monitor the critical path and key milestones, advising the delivery team on any potential changes and leading challenge and mitigation actions. Develop and maintain the portfolio issue, risk and dependency register.

Continuous Improvement



Collaborate closely with the PMO team, stakeholders, and end-users to gather and refine requirements for tools and processes for analysis, planning reporting and dashboards.

Ideal Candidate:



An expert in analysis of project schedules and finance data to identify changes, trends and areas of interest or concern. Experienced in developing and maintaining accurate portfolio/programme plans, modelling the impact of changes to the plan and developing planning options. Intensely curious with an analytical mindset, taking time to understand the information and data complexities and interactions and ask insightful questions to fill gaps in knowledge. Meticulous in their approach to analysis and reporting, with a very high level of attention to detail, and the ability to produce clear and engaging reporting. A team player. An independent worker, but with strong collaboration skills to work closely within a small highly performing team. Proactive with a "can do" problem-solving approach to address data-related challenges and the ability to adapt to changing data requirements and business priorities. Highly competent in use of existing excel and excel-based tools to conduct analysis. Familiar with data visualisation and the ability to think creatively and innovatively to design and create visually appealing and insightful custom reports and unique data presentation solutions. * Able to demonstrate experience of the above skills within major programme or portfolio context.
