Job Description

Stamford Hill Group Practice is seeking an experienced Practice Nurse who can offer a full range of nursing services. You would be working alongside another practice nurse, a specialist diabetes nurse, and a health care assistant.

We have 5 GP Partners, 4 Salaried GPs, a Practice Nurse, 3 Clinical Pharmacists, paramedic, 1 HCA and an FCP. Within our PCN, we serve a population over 40,000and have full access to ARRS staff including social prescribers, pharmacist, paramedics, ANPs and FCPs.

Job Summary:



The Practice Nurse will be part of the primary healthcare team, providing Personal Medical Services to patients.

Key Responsibilities:



Patient Care:

Assist in routine tasks such as cytology, wound care, removal of sutures, ulcer care, Doppler, new patient medicals, urinalysis, travel clinic, venepuncture (desired), contraception reviews, routine and childhood immunisations, and chaperoning.

Request pathology tests (urine culture, swabs, blood tests).

LTC management including diabetes, asthma, COPD, and contraception.

Clinical Tasks:

Follow agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate.

Maintain and clean equipment used by nurses and GPs.

Maintain GP and nurses' rooms, stock and rotate items as required.

Maintain accurate records of mandatory checks.

Order vaccinations to maintain stock levels.

Participate in administrative systems in the practice.

Attend and participate in practice meetings.

Undertake home visits if required.

Perform any other delegated duties appropriate to the post.

Confidentiality:



Maintain confidentiality of patient information and practice-related data.

Adhere to practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data.

Health & Safety:



Implement and manage health and safety protocols, including infection control and PPE management.

Ensure compliance with national standards of infection control and cleanliness.

Manage the specimens process, including collection, labelling, handling, storage, and transport.

Manage and maintain PPE for the practice.

Ensure proper hand hygiene across the practice.

Own and implement infection control and patient care protocols.

Observe and ensure compliance with infection control procedures.

Identify and manage risks in work activities.

Use training to update knowledge and skills and manage the training of others.

Monitor practice facilities and equipment for infection control.

Manage sharps procedures, including training, use, storage, and disposal.

Maintain work areas in a tidy, clean, sterile, and safe manner.

Identify, report, and correct health and safety hazards.

Participate in all mandatory training including but not limited to e-learning modules, Basic life support, Smear / immunisations updates

Manage waste, spillage control, decontamination, and sterile environments.

Person Specification:

Experience: Essential in cervical screening, immunisations, contraceptive advice, LTC management, wound care, and general nursing duties. Experience in GP practice and using EMIS software.

Qualifications: Current NMC Registration and a Disclosure and Barring Service Check.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 43,700.00-50,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 22.5 - 37.5 per week
