An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic, motivated and able Lead Practitioner of Science to assist in leading our successful Science department.

We are looking for a forward thinking, inspirational practitioner to work collaboratively with colleagues, deliver outstanding lessons and to support in the development of the curriculum, raising academic achievement and ensuring all pupils make outstanding progress.

You will be:



Able to inspire pupils of all abilities within Science to achieve their highest potential across Key Stage 3 and 4. Able to lead a team of high achieving specialists. Able to confidently manage behaviour throughout the department. Committed to delivering consistently outstanding teaching and ability to share your practice with others in a constructive and collaborative manner. Contribute to the strategic development of the department by implementing new initiatives, monitoring and reporting on key outcomes, to ensure the department meets academic targets. Responsible and accountable for pupil attainment and achievement, by tracking pupil progress and supporting individual pupils' learning needs, liaising with SLT to report on data and implement intervention strategies. Able to work alongside the Leader of Science to develop/maintain outstanding practise.

Reducing unnecessary workload is a constant priority for leaders. in addition to this, staff well-being is supported through a range of on-site activities and facilities e.g. a Sports Hall & Fitness Suite offering superb facilities for staff and access to the SAS Wellbeing service (including free GP appointments, physiotherapy and counselling). To further support work-life balance, the Trust have recently introduced an annual paid personal day for all staff working at the academy.



Castleford Academy is 5 minutes from the M62 and the Academy is just a 25 minute drive from Leeds, Wakefield, Doncaster and York. There is easy access to the A1 and M62 and we have staff working for us from as far as Huddersfield, Harrogate, North Leeds, Barnsley and Sheffield.
