Lead Quality Inspector - Goods Inward



Chemring Energetics UK is a global business providing a range of equipment based on energetic materials for defence, civil defence and key commercial customers.

We're looking for a Lead Quality Inspector to join our Quality and Business Improvement (QBI) team, playing a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our goods inward inspection process. This role is crucial to upholding our high standards and supporting manufacturing readiness. Key Responsibilities:



Carry out all activities in full compliance with H&SE legislation, within company policy and procedure. Responsible for reporting any unsafe acts or unsafe conditions observed (using the Near Miss System) in accordance with responsibilities under the Health and Safety at work Act. To drive Inward Inspection improvements to ISO 2859 (-1) AQL and CEUK focused improvements in AQL Batch Inspections, CMM/ Keyence and other potential and future (e.g. optical) batch inspection methods. This will support the overall business by meeting AQL, Documentation and release to Work Order in a timely manner, ensuring Quality of Components and Materials required for Manufacture and Supplier Quality scrutiny. Supply Chain SLA is to ensure Components and Materials availability for Manufacture 4 weeks in advance. Reduction in backlog ensures the Business does not have finance tied up in pre-WIP stock, and a more efficient and effective TRT from Goods-in to issuing to manufacture. To support the Quality and Business Improvement Supply and Inspection Engineer in the management of the Inspection department and develop supply monitoring capability. To manage the calibration system and ensure appropriate gauge R&R is conducted on measuring equipment and inspectors. To manage and control the generation of inspection plans (ITPs/ HEPs/ AQL definitions and alignment) and ensure critical features are verified on incoming material. To implement improvements in equipment, team and time utilisation, engineering standards/measurement techniques and data management. To support the QBI Supply Chain Engineer and Quality & Business Improvement Manager in driving a continuous improvement philosophy into the organisational culture. Gather and manage the Good in data, create graphs, charts and reports on at least a weekly basis on Goods-In performance. Attend and have an input to relevant meetings as required, which may include Supplier and Customers. Ensure Defective or Rejected Material (DMR) is Dispositioned correctly, clearly identifiable, including documentation. Where necessary, correctly and securely packaged and returned to suppliers or customers as required. To coach and train employees in inspection tools and techniques to ensure implemented improvements can be sustained. Responsible for carrying out all direct staff objectives and reviews. Other as defined by QBI Engineer (Supply Chain) or QBI Manager.

Qualifications & Experience:



HNC In engineering, quality management or equivalent. Interpretation of Engineering Drawings and Technical documentation including ISO2859 for AQL. High level of proficiency in Quality control techniques and reporting through NCR process and Supply Chain. Matching appropriate tools and techniques to measurement requirements. High level of proficiency in CMM/ Keyence/ other batch visual inspection systems and methods, including programming and use Data gathering, collation, management and report writing. Knowledge of ERP/ Q-Pulse systems. Gauge R&R. Calibration control. Use of Microsoft Excel for setting up spreadsheets, charts, etc, and Microsoft Word for reports as a minimum. Significant experience in control of key features using various tools and techniques, including visual inspection systems. Use of Vision systems and CMM measurement systems

Desirable:



Qualified to HND or equivalent in Engineering or Chemical related. Technical report writing. Statistical Process Control. Goods Inwards Inspection. Supply chain management Good management and leadership skills
