Summary of Role





Capula are looking for a Lead Site Manager, this would suit someone who is an experienced Site Manager with an Electrical Engineering background. This role will be predominantly UK Based between our Head Office in Stone and client sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for safety, quality, time & specification to manage the successful delivery of Protection, Control, Automation and Electrical installations across client's sites. The right candidate will have strong leadership skills, have experience of managing installation & commissioning works, this will include the supervision of installation subcontractors who are carrying out mechanical & electrical works It is expected the candidate will have a high level of Health and Safety expertise with a background that can drive high standards in this area across our team of site managers and installation and commissioning teams. They should also demonstrate a solid understanding installation practices and quality standards required for delivering our solutions on to client sites.




Key Responsibilities:




Manage the installation, commissioning & customer acceptance of Protection, Control, Automation and Electrical installations across the Energy Sector including Transmission Electricity Substations, Large Generators and Large Industrial Clients to the required safety, quality, time & specification. This should be in line with relevant regulatory standards such as the CDM Regs. Management responsibility for leading a site team that may consist of Site Technicians, Hardware Engineers, Commissioning Engineers, Software Engineers, and Sub-contractors (typically cable installation and electrical/mechanical works, delivery & lifting) during the site installation and commissioning phases of the project. Chair pre site start, regular site progress and co-ordination meetings with clients including production of related minutes Attend internal and external client meetings and provide support and consultation in relation to Site Installation Methodologies and the Health & Safety requirements. Develop, review as well as provide consultation and support to Site Managers and Engineering Project Teams in the production of applicable documentation for our site works including Project Safety Health and Environmental plans or Construction Phase Plans, Risk Assessment & Method Statements, Site Wast Management Plans, Site Inductions, etc. Undertake site surveys as required to support the tendering team, project engineering and site teams in site related matters such as Installation requirements, sub-contractor visits, site or complex task specific Health and Safety requirements. Collaboratively lead and work across engineering discipline (Site, Hardware, Software, Protection & Control) to ensure successful project delivery and client delight. Work with Capula's Quality, Environment, Safety & Health department to establish and maintain best practice across Capula's site operations. Ensuring through close liaison and consultation with Project Management and Project Engineering Teams that sufficient resources are planned for site work to enable delivery to cost, budget and quality. Provide Guidance and review of scope documentation with Project Teams inclusive of sub-contractor requirements to allow Project Management to establish these contracts. Provide consultative support to the Principal Engineer responsible for the allocation of site resources. Complete audits/assessments provided by procurement for new subcontractors Support Project Management in identification of change to scope such as changing requirements affecting programme (schedule), cost etc. Be responsible for the site drawings and control of these to support the delivery of the works on site. Be responsible for the site quality systems including the Installation and Test Plan Documentation (ITP's). Be responsible for assessing the requirements and organising onsite welfare. Be responsible for organising tools and equipment to aid the installation. Carry out sensible monitoring and assess the competency of staff and contractors onsite. Carry out site audits of our site activities on active sites. Mentor and coach Site Managers within the site team to support their development. Develop and implement standards, processes and procedures to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory & industry requirements Lead to drive change and improvement to establish best practice and scalable approaches across the responsible area and work with stakeholders to ensure these are common and integrated. Provide 'Thought leadership' in the discipline defining areas for growth and development, participating with industry bodies and supporting the strengthening of Capula's reputation through industry publications, conferences & events.



Candidate Profile:



Be an experienced site manager with a good understanding of site installation requirements from an electrical & small mechanical background with the ability to understand drawings and engineering information. Have a good knowledge of UK regulatory requirements in relation to the management of works on a Construction project including CDM Regulations 2015 and the roles and responsibilities associated with this. Excellent communication and team skills. Structured and analytical way of working. Ability to Lead/work as part of a team. Ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines and to motivate others to achieve the same. Be flexible in methods of working to achieve best outcomes. Full UK drivers' licence and willingness to travel. To have successfully completed specific health and safety awareness training delivered by recognised training provider (IOSH, CITB, RoSPA, BSC etc), e.g. manual handling, (preferred qualified to minimum of Appointed Person), lifting operations (banksman/slinger), working at height, CDM, confined spaces etc. To have successfully completed Construction Industry Training Board Construction Skills Site Managers Safety Training Scheme course (5days) or equivalent Have experience in carrying out Electrical Installation works and hold current BS:7671 18th edition qualifications Trained in Temporary Works Coordination / Supervision Undertaken Asbestos Awareness training Undertaken Impressed Voltages Training and understand the causes and consequences of Impressed Voltages Understanding of the UK Environmental and Waste Management legislation Current "National Grid Competent Person" First Aid at Work Certificate Good knowledge of the relevant National Grid procedures and standards and have ideally been authorised as and SR163 (Previously TP137) Site Manager. Ability to set the standards required to ensure compliance with customer requirements and specifications and thus reduce technical and commercial risk.
