WHAT TO EXPECT

This role is responsible for leading the design, development, testing and deployment of new mechatronic systems. Working closely with the systems engineering team, you will support the development of the customer and system level requirements and the creation of system targets and specification in order to fulfil these.

You will have the opportunity to develop and deliver the commodity working across multiple teams with diverse stakeholders, understanding their needs to successfully integrate a solution that is to quality, cost and time with technical integrity. As a Lead System Engineer in Design and Integration, you will be a System Owner, providing technical leadership of the system design and delivery, conducting Functional and Non-Functional analysis to define the expected system functionality. You will evaluate multiple system design concepts and maintain integrity between the system and it\'s components to arrive at a harmonised solution. In addition to this, you will also be responsible for System Design Specification, preparing system requirements specifications and developing functional designs, demonstrating how the system satisfies the defined customer requirements.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

In this position, you will be responsible for system functional and physical architecture definition and delivery across a range of JLR vehicles, ensuring synergy and compatibility with all other interacting systems.

Further responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Define the customer level requirements for agreed features through the application of Use Case Analysis and requirements elicitation and derivation. Produce and review Feature Statement of Intent (FSOI), for agreed features

Produce and review LADs and SRDs for agreed features. Ensure the designs are harmonised and included in the JLR Function library.

Provide technical support and assistance across the operational team on topics relating to the integration and harmonisation of multiple interconnected components including issue resolution and objective data analysis

Assist and contribute to the generation of targets and verification methods that are driven by Customer, Function Requirements and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis

Work with Technical Specialists and Research Engineering on Attribute and Function Forward Strategies, including new Function Definition and Failure Mode Avoidance

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer that has been involved in electro-mechanical systems design, including electronic control models, network architectures and diagnostics.

Essential:

Relevant experience of working in a Systems Engineering environment

Knowledge of Systems Engineering principals and process with relevant experience of system definition, system architecture development, requirements specification, design/performance modelling, systems integration, system assessment and acceptance

Experience of requirements Management and Artifacts generation

Well versed in safety critical systems and software, including standards such as ISO26262, IEC61508 or similar

Understanding of functional safety and cyber security
