About the role



Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Leadership & Talent Development Lead to join our growing team.



As Leadership & Talent Development Lead, you will shape and drive the leadership development strategy for Balfour Beatty UK, ensuring it aligns with our business goals, culture, and the ever-evolving landscape of our industry. Reporting to the Head of Learning and Development, you will lead a talented team, develop a long-term roadmap for leadership capability, and champion a culture of inclusion, high performance, and psychological safety. This is a pivotal role with significant influence across our organisation, offering the opportunity to make a lasting impact on our people and our business.

The base location for this role is UK flexible, with some travel required.

What you'll be doing



Own and deliver the leadership and talent development strategy with a 5-10-year horizon, aligned to business and people strategy Define and embed leadership behaviours, mindsets, and capabilities for high-calibre leadership in a complex, growth-focused environment Design and deliver leadership and talent programmes, partnering with business leaders to build a strong internal pipeline Act as subject matter expert on coaching, guiding policy and coaching senior leaders and teams Integrate research and external insights to anticipate future leadership and technology trends Champion inclusion and diversity, ensuring these are embedded in all leadership development initiatives Lead, inspire, and develop a team of Senior Leadership Development Partners Manage a significant budget, seeking opportunities for external funding and maximising value from suppliers Use data and insights to measure impact and drive continuous improvement Represent Balfour Beatty externally, building our reputation as an employer of choice through our investment in skills and capability


Who we're looking for



Proven experience in designing and delivering development at scale in

complex organisations (including blended and digital learning). Using data


and insight to inform and strengthen approach
Extensive experience of working in a commercial learning and development

/ organisational effectiveness professional role within a complex, multi contracted diverse culture
Strong strategic thinking (both 'big picture' and longer term) with ability to

translate vision into actionable plans and measure results
Extensive experience of design, delivery and evaluation of a full range of

learning portfolio (including blended learning), encompassing leadership,


management, professional and culture
Experience of managing budgets, suppliers, partner Deep understanding of adult learning, behavioural science, and leadership

theory, experiential learning cycle and Kirkpatrick evaluation model
