Job Description

Role Purpose



Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations by leading Lean transformation projects, optimizing processes, and fostering a culture of operational excellence. The Lean Improvement Lead will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver measurable improvements in quality, cost, delivery, and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities



Lead and facilitate Lean improvement projects focused on Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) within manufacturing and office based operations. Analyse current processes, identify waste, and implement Lean tools (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work). Coach and mentor teams on Lean principles and problem-solving methodologies. Develop and deliver Lean training programs to build internal capability. Collaborate with leadership and frontline teams to drive a culture of continuous improvement and people engagement. Monitor and report on project progress, KPIs, and realized benefits. Support working capital optimization through inventory reduction, process efficiency, and waste elimination. Integrate sustainability and capability-building initiatives into Lean projects. Share best practices and lessons learned across the organization. Represent SBU Ebbw Vale as part of the MEI lean forum Conduct lean maturity audits across other SBU's globally

Qualifications & Experience



Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field. Proven experience leading Lean or continuous improvement projects in a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of Lean methodologies and tools (e.g., Six Sigma, 5S, Kanban, SMED). Excellent facilitation, coaching, and communication skills. Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills. Experience with change management and driving cultural transformation is a plus. Lean/Six Sigma certification (e.g., Green Belt, Black Belt) preferred.
