To provide high-quality learner coaching and tutorial support within the Skills for Life department. The post holder will primarily deliver 1:1 and small group tutorials, with a strong focus on monitoring and tracking learner progress across attendance, achievement, personal development, and wider learning goals.
The Learning Coach will play a central role in ensuring learners -- many with SEND and additional support needs -- receive consistent pastoral and academic guidance, helping them develop the skills, confidence and resilience required for success in education, employment, and independent living.
Key Responsibilities
The Learning Coach will:Provide structured 1:1 and group tutorials to monitor learner progress, attendance, achievement and personal development.
Track and record learner progress effectively using College systems (ProMonitor, Teams, etc.), feeding back regularly to teaching staff and Curriculum Managers.
Contribute to the delivery and reinforcement of wider tutorial themes, such as safeguarding, employability, resilience, British Values, and personal/social development.
Support learners in setting, reviewing and achieving individual targets (including RARPA and EHCP outcomes where applicable).
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, support staff and external professionals to ensure a joined-up approach to learner support.
Provide additional encouragement, motivation and pastoral care to promote learner well-being, engagement and independence.
Maintain accurate records in line with College policies, ensuring that learner progress and interventions are captured clearly.
Contribute to the wider Skills for Life team by participating in team meetings, CPD and quality improvement processes.
Ensure all safeguarding, health and safety, and equality duties are carried out in line with College policy.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Qualifications
Essential Criteria
Minimum Level 2 in English and maths (or willingness to work towards).
Relevant qualification in education, youth work, coaching, or equivalent experience.
