Are you a creative Instructional Designer with a real knack for visual communication and a meticulous eye for detail? Do you thrive when working closely with people and managing projects at pace? If so, you might be just who we're looking for!

The Henry Ford Academy plays a vital role in supporting Ford of Britain and Ireland by delivering impactful training to our dealership network, additional we have key contracts to develop premium training content for 23 markets in Europe for Ford of Europe & Ford Global. We help upskill staff with the knowledge they need to drive Ford's strategy forward.

As a Learning Content Designer, you won't just be writing content - you'll be a key player in bringing learning solutions to life visually and managing the journey from concept to completion. You'll work hand-in-hand with Ford stakeholders and subject matter experts, not just taking orders but actively leading discussions, understanding their needs, and translating them into innovative blended learning experiences.

This role requires someone who is passionate about creating learning that doesn't just inform, but truly engages and makes an impact. You'll need a solid understanding of design methodology, but also the ability to be agile and creative within tight timelines. We work within a dynamic, fast-paced environment where managing multiple projects simultaneously and delivering high-quality results on deadline is key. Your excellent graphic design skills, unwavering attention to detail, and ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders will be crucial to your success.

Key Responsibilities



Stakeholder Partnership & Management:

Once projects have been agreed, you will be part of the project team and one of the key contact for the stakeholders in the process. This means actively building strong relationships, supporting scoping discussions, gathering requirements, and managing expectations throughout the project lifecycle. You'll need to be comfortable influencing and guiding conversations where necessary to ensure the best learning outcomes.

Visual & Digital Learning Design:

This is where your graphic design skills really shine! You will be responsible for designing and creating a wide range of visually compelling digital learning materials. Think engaging animations, interactive guides, impactful visual aids, video storyboards/scripts, and polished e-learning modules. You'll also design presentations and trainer guides, ensuring visual consistency and clarity across all formats.

Needs Analysis & Solution Design:

Analyse learning aims and objectives, gather content from various sources, and recommend the most effective blended learning solutions (both new and updated courses) to meet business needs and support external accreditation requirements where applicable.

LMS Deployment:

Utilise our Learning Management System (LMS) effectively to deploy blended learning interventions, including configuring course activities and learning pathways.

Project Leadership & Pace:

You'll manage your own portfolio of projects, leading them from start to finish. This demands strong project planning and time management skills, the ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality work to tight deadlines in a fast-moving environment.

Quality Assurance:

Maintain an exceptional focus on quality control and attention to detail throughout the design and development process, ensuring all materials are accurate, compliant, and visually polished before launch.

Continuous Improvement:

Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in learning design, digital media, and the automotive sector. Devise and recommend initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and overall experience of our learning solutions.

About You



A minimum of 2 years' experience in learning design and development, including conducting needs analysis and scoping appropriate solutions.

Exceptional Graphic Design & Digital Media Skills: A demonstrable ability to design for visual impact and create engaging digital assets. Proficiency in using digital media tools and a strong understanding of visual design principles for learning.

Strong Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud suite: Good working experience with relevant Adobe tools is essential for creating high-quality visual assets.

Experience using learning asset creation tools such as Articulate Rise/Storyline, Vyond, PageTiger, or similar, with an emphasis on creating visually engaging content.

A sharp eye for detail and a strong focus on quality control, proofreading, and ensuring accuracy in all deliverables.

Skilled Stakeholder Manager: Excellent customer relationship management skills with the ability to liaise, influence, and build strong, collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the business.

Ability to Thrive in a Fast-Paced Environment: Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, work effectively under pressure, and consistently meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.

Strong project management, time management, and organisational skills.

Excellent analytical skills and the ability to quickly understand and assimilate complex information.

Experience using a Learning Management System (LMS) and understanding its role in blended learning.

Ability to be creative and innovative, finding effective solutions even within constraints.

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and also be a proactive self-starter on solo projects.

Strong writing ability, particularly for e-learning storyboards and video scripts.

An understanding of how to design materials that reflect the diversity of the learner audience.

Salary & Benefits:

35,000 - 45,000 dependant on experience, 25 Days Annual Leave, Calex Employee Benefits Packages (Inc Private GP and Healthcare Services, High Street Discounts, Discounted Gym Memberships and on Demand 24 Hour Wellbeing Service (Counselling and Advice), Life Assurance, Pension, optional private Healthcare cover.

Contract:

Permanent / Full Time

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday / 40 hours per week

Place of Work:

Hybrid - Minimum of 2 Days per week required at Henry Ford Academy in Daventry. Occasional travel to Ford offices in Essex will also be required. There may also be occasional requirement for overseas travel to Europe for Train the Trainer sessions.

Pre-employment Checks:

Calex will undertake the relevant/standard employment checks with any successful candidate. This includes contacting all nominated referees, as well as checking candidate ID, driving licence (if appropriate) and right to work in the UK. Some roles may also be subject to further pre-employment checks (confirmation will be provided through the recruitment process). The nature of this role may necessitate that we undertake a DBS check.
