Sirius Childcare Ltd is seeking a Learning and Development Officer to lead and inspire our workforce through high-quality, trauma-informed training and professional development.
As part of our dedicated team, you'll play a key role in shaping the skills, confidence, and practice of staff who support children aged 8-17 with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
You'll design and deliver engaging learning programmes, ensure compliance with Ofsted and the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, and foster a reflective, therapeutic learning culture across our homes.
We're looking for someone with experience in training or education within social care, a sound understanding of trauma and attachment, and a genuine commitment to helping others grow.

1. Learning Design and Delivery
Develop and deliver high-quality, engaging learning programs that align with Sirius Childcare's trauma-informed model and statutory requirements.
Deliver core and specialist training, including safeguarding, child development, behaviour management, attachment and trauma, therapeutic communication, and equality and diversity.
Design bespoke training sessions in response to organisational or individual learning needs.
Support induction and ongoing CPD for all residential care staff.
2. Workforce Development and Support
Develop and maintain individual learning and development plans for all staff in collaboration with line managers.
Promote reflective practice and professional curiosity through supervision, workshops, and coaching.
Coordinate and support staff in achieving mandatory qualifications.
Foster a positive learning culture that encourages self-awareness, compassion, and continuous improvement.
3. Quality Assurance and Compliance
Maintain an accurate, up-to-date training matrix to evidence compliance with Ofsted and the Children's Homes Regulations 2015.
Prepare training records and summaries for Ofsted inspections and internal audits.
Evaluate training impact through feedback, reflective sessions, and performance outcomes.
Ensure all training content remains current with legislation, statutory guidance, and sector best practice.
4. Strategic and Organisational Development
Contribute to Sirius Childcare's overall strategic development by identifying workforce trends, skill gaps, and training priorities.
Collaborate with therapeutic consultants and managers to embed trauma-informed and restorative practices throughout the organisation.
Research and implement new learning methodologies, including e-learning, blended learning, and experiential training.
Represent the organisation at local training networks, forums, and partnership events.
