About this Role




White Meadows Primary Academy wishes to appoint a Learning Mentor to start in September on a permanent contract with a working pattern of 25 hours per week during term time only. The Learning Mentor role is vital to the school and involves supporting our most vulnerable children including those who have had significant adverse childhood experiences and those with a variety of needs or Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP's).



In particular, successful applicants should have:



Experience of working with children in a friendly, busy environment Knowledge of child safeguarding procedures Experience of working with and caring for children An understanding of the impact of adverse childhood experiences The ability to use initiative and clearly recall information, whilst working under pressure
High expectations of students in terms of learning, achievement and behaviour Enthusiasm and dedication to developing innovative approaches to learning, teaching, mentoring and guidance A commitment to promoting and fostering good relationships between children and with parents and colleagues

You should:



Be calm, patient and have good listening skills Have the ability to build effective relationships with students, parents and other staff Be reliable, trustworthy, discreet and able to maintain confidentiality The ability to relate in a firm and friendly way with a wide range of personalities The ability to use initiative Be willing to undertake direction and guidance Have a good understanding of behaviour management strategies Be able to work as part of a team
