Learning Pastoral Assistant - SEMH School (Horley)



Full-time | Term-time only | Ages 11-16 | Supportive and specialist settingWe are seeking a compassionate and resilient Learning Pastoral Assistant to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Horley, supporting pupils aged 11-16.


This is a rewarding role for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs, helping them to thrive both academically and personally.


About the Role:



You will work closely with students to provide emotional and behavioural support, helping them engage positively with their learning and school life. The role combines classroom support with pastoral care, focusing on building trust, promoting wellbeing, and encouraging personal growth.


Key Responsibilities:



Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs Support emotional regulation, behaviour management, and wellbeing Build positive relationships and act as a trusted adult Collaborate with teachers, pastoral leads, and external professionals Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing school environment

What We're Looking For:



Experience working with children or young people (SEMH experience desirable) A calm, empathetic and patient approach Strong communication and teamwork skills DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
