Job Title: Learning & Digital Resource Assistant



Location: Stewart Park, Middlesborough



Contract Type: Part-time, 13.5hours / Permanent



Salary: SP17 23,815 per annum, pro rata



About Role:



The post holder will provide excellent customer service to a wide range of students to ensure they have access to the best resources available that inspire a passion for learning. They will support, manage and sign post to existing physical resources such as books and magazines as well as our growing online resources through a growing range on online platforms such as e-books, Heritage Circa and Planet E-stream for media content. They will work closely with the Librarians and the e-Learning co-ordinator to manage existing catalogues of resources as well as creating and managing internally created content. They will ensure that the physical spaces and the digital spaces are working effectively and are up to date. They post holder will be a proactive and creative problem solver, seeking new ways of working to improve the services we offer and can help with going to other sites when required.

Key Responsibilities:



To provide excellent customer service to assist users in locating and using suitable physical and online content and resources both in person and on campus and remotely via online communication. To participate in the general operations of the learning and digital centre including organising and maintaining stock, processing and shelving resources and allowing access to specialist equipment. Supporting students to self-serve where applicable and issuing, managing and returning stock using the library management system. Administer and support the reserving and allocation of computers, manually or via the booking system. Being able to use the photocopying and scanning services and support others in their use beyond a basic function. Oversee the overdues and support Librarians with their roles. Supervise and support individual and groups of students to ensure the environment is conducive to learning.

Digital Learning Resource Management and Production:



To assist in the production of learning resources materials using different platforms to grow and expand the paid for collection including video, audio, scanned and graphics. Provide support to staff and students in the use of educational technology and online learning resources, such as digital inductions to generic tools, online databases, internet resources and the college's digital learning platforms. To update the digital, online and physical signage to ensure students are aware of changes, new items and key developments. To update and improve current Moodle/ Sharepoint systems to ensure students can access the resources they need and increase statistics of use.

Administrative and financial:



To raise purchase orders, administrate the purchase of goods and keep spreadsheets of physical and online purchases in preparation for the renewal process. To order and manage the college paper stocks maintaining good stock levels and managing peaks in the year. Liaise and form relationships with a wide range of stakeholders (students, academic staff, estates, IT, finance etc) to ensure the service runs efficiently. To use basic statistics to identify areas of improvement. Work alongside the Senior Learning Resource Assistant to create systems and processes to enable smooth running of processes, quick access to budgetary spending and forecasting of projected spends. To be responsible for the safe storage of equipment and the opening up and locking up of the spaces.

The College operates 2 starter/induction days per month to welcome and onboard new members. These are usually the first Monday and third Wednesday of each month (unless there is a bank holiday).
