15 per hour.

Sutton District Training, Ash Cottage, Woodingdean, Brighton.

This exciting opportunity is ideal for someone wanting to take the next step in their career, working three days a week as a Learning support Assistant. This role could easily fit in with the parental responsibilities of those wanting to return to work and make a meaningful career change.

You will be mentoring and academically supporting the 16-19+ year old learners in our alternative education provision in Woodingdean, Brighton. Sutton District Training has centres in both Brighton and South London, providing vocational courses for learners, that have an excellent level of pastoral guidance. We are passionate about supporting young people to fulfil their potential, and as a Learning Support Assistant, you will be an essential part of the team.

Duties will include:



121 support for EHCP learners needing extra help with Functional Skills and their vocational work.

Leading small groups to develop their journey to adulthood, with both enrichment and vocational activities.

Building good professional relationships with all students, to promote engagement and attendance, whilst understanding behaviour is a form of communication.

Working alongside class tutors to provide dynamic and relevant lessons, getting stuck in to all the great opportunities we provide, such as cooking and nutrition, gardening, art, wellbeing, sport and so much more.

Accompany learners on enrichment activities inside and outside of the classroom.

Providing reports on the progress of your students and prioritising daily record keeping on their needs and progression.

Your skills:



Educated to at least GCSE level with Maths and English at GCSE .

Experience and/or understanding of SEND students is preferred, but if you have other strong experience of engaging with young people, please also apply.

Understanding how to support the emotional and social development of students, reporting any concerns to the Safeguarding Lead.

Working with vocational tutor to devise and implement strategies to work towards outcomes identified in student EHCP.

Provide regular feedback to your Manager and outside agencies about your students' difficulties and progress.
