We are seeking to appoint an EAL Learning Support Assistant to work alongside our EAL Coordinator to support students who speak English as an Additional Language. The Role
Your role will be to support students whose first language is other than English to settle into school quickly and begin to make progress in lessons. Support of identified students in mainstream classes will be a large part of the role, including helping students to learn key words and use translation tools where necessary. Some 1:1 student support will also be required as well as liaising with families to ensure a smooth transition. Applicants will need to be empathetic and able to build a rapport with students from a wide variety of backgrounds. Experience of teaching English as an Additional Language is desirable but not essential as further training will be provided. A minimum Level 2 qualification in English and Maths is essential.

Good maths skills Level 2 qualified in English and Maths (Level 2 qualified in English and Maths), confident to support up to GCSE level
The ability to go into different subject areas and quickly pick up what the student needs to do
Excellent interpersonal skills with students as well as their families
A reliable and responsive disposition
Good computer skills or willing to learn
A love of learning

A desire to support students to achieve the best results possible to further their future life chances
