Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - 2 full time vacancies - part time hours may be considered.



Salary: G7.7 - starting salary 26,403 per annum pro rata, 23,090 actual salary based on 37 hours per week

The posts are initially Fixed Term Contracts starting as soon as possible until 17th July 2026. The School may look to extend the contract should this meet the requirements of the school.

Hours: 37 hours per week, term time only.

Cotham School, a successful, vibrant and diverse 11-18 comprehensive school, wishes to appoint Learning Support Assistants for SEND students who require 1:1 or shared support in school. You will be required to provide support for learning as well as the social/emotional development of other students on an individual or group basis, under the general direction of the line manager. Purpose of the Job



You will be required to provide support for learning activities and the social/emotional development of other students on an individual or group basis, under the general direction of the line manager.

Key Job Outcomes



1.

Support for students' learning



Following work plans approved by the teaching staff, provide direct support for the learning of the student, to achieve defined progression targets in the child's individual Learning Plan through:

activities, interventions, empathetic and sympathetic listening, direct guidance and the provision of appropriate positive feedback to behaviour developing the physical, emotional and educational development of the student supervising and encouraging safe behaviour analysis of achievement to develop reinforcement of structured learning habits which meets defined targets for accessing the curriculum as set by the line manager

Care and support for students



Attend to the day to day needs of the student, inside and outside the classroom, by:

provision of personal, social, welfare and behaviour support intervention to promote the progress of the student in attaining defined goals, such as Speech and Language Interventions, in one-to-one or group settings. promoting effective pastoral care for the student and groups, following defined procedures, and liaising with colleagues to create and retrieve accurate records to provide the basis for home/school liaison & contacts with other agencies reporting concerns about progress, identifying solutions, to the teacher assisting educational and therapeutic professionals in their delivery of specialist support programed assisting with the assessment by the teacher of the students' development through observation, creation and retrieval of records, discussion with colleagues and teachers to promote the social, emotional and behavioural standards defined by school policies and procedures.

Support for the learning environment



At times, you will be asked to aid with additional tasks or requirements. You may be required to develop work plans, prepare, store, retrieve and sort resources, equipment, and/or assignment documents to provide an effective learning environment. Additionally, you may be required to:

promote the required standards of achievement and performance, including feedback through structured assessment within the classroom support the development of continuous improvement in both personal performance in the job and the work of the team assist in the development, monitoring, reviewing and progression of the student's learning plans support invigilation and assessment processes, recording, keeping and retrieving accurate records and following defined procedures cover the Safe Space with 1-6 timetabled students or those in distress support with enrichment activities and school trips for our children with High Needs assist with various administrative tasks as directed by the line manager attend weekly meetings with the team and participate in relevant CPD.
