The Learning and Development Leader will play a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for individuals with diverse needs, particularly those with SLC, SEMH and other disabilities. This position involves designing, implementing, and evaluating educational programmes aimed at enhancing the skills and capabilities of both learners and staff. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in special education and demonstrate exceptional communication skills to effectively engage with children, families, and colleagues.
Responsibilities
Develop and deliver tailored training programmes for staff working with learners with SEND.
Collaborate with the SENDCO, therapists, and families to create individualised learning plans that meet the unique needs of each child.
Facilitate workshops and training sessions focused on best practices in special education, communication strategies, and inclusive teaching methods.
Monitor and assess the progress of learners, providing feedback and support to ensure continuous improvement.
Advocate for the rights of individuals with disabilities within educational settings and promote awareness among staff and the community.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current trends, research, and legislation related to special education and disability support.
Manage the team of learning support assistants matching them to learners to provide with individualised needs.
Experience
Proven experience working with individuals with autism or other disabilities is essential.
Background in teaching or special education is highly desirable.
Experience in toddler care or working with young children is beneficial.
Strong communication skills are required to effectively interact with diverse groups including children, parents, and professionals.
