Join our dedicated team at Barking & Dagenham College, as a Learning Support Practitioner (LSP) Horizons-Welfare, and help to create an inclusive learning environment!


Our Horizons Team is looking for a compassionate and motivated individual with experience supporting young people with personal care and light physiotherapy needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our learners by helping them access education and reach their full potential.


The successful candidate will work on a 1:1 basis, providing dedicated support to meet the individual needs of the learner. This position is offered on a

fixed-term, contract

to July 2026 with the possibility of extension based on performance and future opportunities within the team.


You will join us on apart-time basis, 33 hours per week term-time only, and in return, we will offer a competitive salary of 23,958 - 26,510 pa inc London Weighting.


Please be advised that the salary has been pro rata'd to 33 hours per week, 38 weeks per year.

To provide 1:1, shared in class and group support to learners with personal care, light physio and medical needs within the Horizons Department..


Key Responsibilities of our

Learning Support Practitioner (LSP) Horizons-Welfare




To work under the supervision and guidance of the tutor with students with mild/moderate and complex learning difficulties and disabilities within the Horizons area To provide one to one support, both direct and indirect, for students with learning difficulties and
disabilities following mainstream courses, primarily in the learning environment.
Support students with a wide range of disabilities, assisting with personal care, health, and mobility needs, including light physiotherapy Encourage student independence during breaks and lunch times, ensuring their social and physical needs are met

Our ideal Learning Support Practitioner (LSP) Horizons-Welfare

should have the following qualifications, skills and experience:




A level 2 or above qualification. (E) Experience of providing effective coaching for students on an individual basis or in a group setting to support success and progression (E) Understanding of academic and vocational education in a College setting. (E) A high level of oral skills, both one to one and in a group setting. (E) Excellent written skills: able to compile clear procedures, manuals, guides etc. (E)
