Northumberland College is Ofsted Outstanding and is currently building a multi-million, state of the art, new college campus in Ashington, due to open in 2026. The successful candidate will be based at the new college where a purpose-built construction, housing, advanced manufacturing and engineering centre will be located.
Curriculum spans technical, vocational further and higher education and includes large apprenticeship provision and dedicated centres for young people with SEND.
The College has two main campuses in Ashington, and Ponteland, and as part of the college group Education Partnership Northeast, it also has a significant number of satellite delivery centres across the region

About the Role
Due to curriculum development and growth, we have a number of mathematics roles and hours available at our Kirkley Hall campus. This is an excellent opportunity to join an outstanding college and make a real difference to the lives of young people in the region.
The main focus of the roles will be planning, leading and delivering exceptional quality GCSE and Functional Skills mathematics programmes to 16-19-year-old students as part of the college's Enhanced Curriculum.
The college provides a range of excellent professional development opportunities and support, including an Initial Teacher Education offer. These posts offer a fantastic opportunity for candidates who are looking to move into teaching mathematics, are committed to becoming fully qualified with two years and can demonstrate drive, ambition and a passion for the subject.
Role Responsibilities
Plan, prepare and deliver high quality, sequenced teaching and learning and assessment
Teach students to exceptionally high standards using appropriate, varied and responsive student-centred approaches which embrace learning technologies and innovation to enhance the student experience.
Actively engage in reflective practice and contribute to the wider professional development programme.
Liaise effectively with the wider curriculum and support teams to ensure appropriate and high-quality academic support is provided
Participate in college recruitment and marketing events where required.
Qualifications
Level 5 minimum Diploma in Education and Training - or a commitment to complete this with two years
Level 6 (degree level) qualification in Mathematics or a related subject is desirable. Minimum of Level 3 is essential
Level 2 English Language

Planning, developing, and leading a programme
Planning and delivering sessions that are safe, inclusive, stretching, relevant and include adaptations for special educational needs

Experience of teaching in the Further Education sector
