The opportunity
This is an exciting time to join the expanding community at Wimbledon College of Arts within the BA Art Direction and Visual Effects course. We are offering a full-time post for a candidate to year-lead at undergraduate level.
Successful candidates will work closely the BA Course Leader and staff, as a Year Leader, to deliver an inspiring student experience at undergraduate level. They will assume responsibility for delivering specialist teaching and academic guidance, curriculum development, and leadership within the course.
This course teaches students the skills required to be an art director or visual effects (VFX) artist for screen-based entertainment. We aim to equip students with the expertise to shape innovative ideas that will drive the visual identity of film, television, animation and computer games.
As well as delivering stimulating teaching, you'll also support students with their progress, offering academic and pastoral support that will help students to thrive. Working closely with the course team, you'll coordinate the administration of specific units on the course, whilst also contributing to curriculum development, course organisation and management.
Your profile
You'll be a well-qualified academic who has experience of teaching and assessment in a Higher Education environment (or equivalent).
We are specifically looking for someone with a production level knowledge of workflows for either Visual Effects, Computer Games or Animation, a good working knowledge of Blender and/or Maya for character and environment modelling in relation to VFX, Animation or Games production, a working knowledge of Unreal Engine, and an understanding of Z-Brush or Houdini.
In addition to this, you'll demonstrate evidence of research, teaching, knowledge exchange and/or professional practice that contributes to the advancement of relevant activity and is relevant to the goals of the Programme, College and University.
The scheduled interview date is 23 September 2025 at Wimbledon College of Arts.
