Salary/Benefits:

Salary is between 31,930 and 36,878 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications

with a market supplement of up to 3,000 for successful candidates

, 45 days annual leave (Pro-Rata) plus Bank holidays,People's pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Note

- Salary and Annual Leave is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.


Hours/Weeks:

22.2 hours per week - 52 weeks per year

About the role:





We are currently seeking a Lecturer in English to join our English and Maths department at The Bedford College Group

.





As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:


Teaching & Assessment

- Deliver high-quality English teaching across various levels, prepare schemes of work, assess student progress, and ensure awarding body standards are met.

Student Support & Progression

- Guide students through tutorials and feedback, helping them achieve their potential and progress academically and vocationally.

Curriculum Development

- Contribute to course innovation, develop engaging learning materials, and support the creation of new programmes aligned with strategic priorities.

Quality & Administration

- Maintain accurate records, meet funding and quality assurance requirements, and participate in course reviews, team meetings, and student feedback activities.

College Engagement & Compliance

- Support marketing events, uphold safeguarding, EDI, and health & safety standards, and contribute to the wider college strategy and student experience.

About you:




Qualifications & Subject Expertise

- Relevant degree or Level 5 qualification in English, Certificate in Education/PGCE (or willingness to achieve), and GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade A-C).

Teaching Experience & Knowledge

- Recent experience teaching and assessing GCSE English, strong classroom management, and up-to-date knowledge of subject developments and awarding body standards.

Communication & Collaboration

- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; able to build positive relationships across the College and contribute effectively to team goals.

Organisation & Administration

- Highly organised with strong planning skills, confident in using Microsoft Office, and able to complete administrative tasks accurately and on time.

Professionalism & Values

- Committed to safeguarding, EDI, continuous development, and promoting the College's values and reputation; flexible and willing to work across locations with a valid driving licence.
