Job Description


Southwark College require a dedicated, enthusiastic and qualified person to take on the role of Fashion Design lecturer.

The main responsibilities of this role include the delivery and assessment of high-quality learning programmes in fashion across a range of levels of further education, as well as undertaking a range of programme leadership, tutorial and programme administration duties.

Successful applicants would have technical skills in teaching and using a wide range of fashion design techniques, processes and materials. They should also have some expertise in working with digital images using the Adobe Creative Suite.

This post requires a strong background in the teaching of fashion and a successful candidate will have a proven track record of effective professional/vocational experience in the Further Education sector.

In addition, a successful applicant will be able to demonstrate strong professional links with employers in the fashion industries and should have the ability and motivation to develop links between employers and course delivery.

The candidate must:

\xc2\xb7 be qualified to honours-degree level (L6) (or qualified to the industry-recognised standard in a relevant field)

\xc2\xb7 hold a post-16 teaching qualification and English and mathematics qualifications at level 2 - or be willing to achieve these within an agreed timeframe.

Strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to self-manage workloads to meet deadlines and a good knowledge of creative industry-standard software are all essential requirements.

The hours of work will be flexible and may include evening and weekends according to demand.
