College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; School of Health in Social Science; Counselling, Psychotherapy and Applied Social Sciences

Full time, 35 Hours per week (1 FTE)

Open-ended

We are looking for a Centre Director to direct the Hope Park Counselling Centre, support practice placements and deliver teaching on the professional programmes in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

The Opportunity:

You will direct the Hope Park Counselling Centre and contribute to core teaching on the postgraduate Counselling and Psychotherapy Programmes, maintaining personal scholarship. If appointed to a Teaching + Research Lectureship, you will also engage in collaborative research activity and supervise doctoral students.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • You will be a qualified practitioner in Counselling and Psychotherapy, holding professional accreditation with a relevant Counselling and Psychotherapy professional body (COSCA, BACP, UKCP or equivalent) or eligibility to apply for accreditation
  • You will have a Postgraduate Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy or another relevant field
  • You will have experience of supporting counselling practice placements and directing counselling services
  • You will have experience in professional education in the field of Counselling and Psychotherapy
  • You will have the ability to design and deliver course materials and assess student performance in both academic assignments and counselling practice development
  • You will be able to take responsibility for organising your own activities and for the management of allocated resources
  • You will have the ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team
