Job Purpose

: The post will be based at the University's Belfast campus and offers an opportunity to join a highly successful Law School, with a strong teaching culture, a growing international and comparative profile, and an extraordinary record of success in research (REF) assessment.

Candidates must possess a minimum of a 2:1 degree in Law, or cognate discipline provided they also hold a higher degree with Law as a significant component. Applicants must be able to contribute to core undergraduate law teaching and should evidence a forthcoming portfolio of scholarly publications and demonstrate evidence of capacity to publish research that would be considered 'internationally excellent' three-star research (as defined by REF 2024)

Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated achievement in other academic activities or show strong evidence of such potential. This could include for example - application for research grants, strong peer review of research to date, commitment to developing the non-academic impact of research. The post holder would be expected to evidence strong commitment to their own research goals, as well as to the broader research aims of the Law School and Unit of Assessment.

The School has an excellent teaching and research reputation in relation to Gender, Human Rights and International Law, Transitional Justice, Access to Justice and Social Security, and is now seeking to expand its research and teaching in the area of Legal Technology. Applications are sought from candidates who have teaching and research experience in areas such as AI & Law, Legal Technology, Legal Data Analytics and IP Law.
