Contract Type: Full Time, 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. Fixed Term until 31 August 2027


Location: Paignton, Devon





We are seeking a dedicated Lecturer to join our Construction and Building Services team, delivering high-quality teaching and learning across a range of programmes including Study Programmes and Apprenticeships. Reporting to the Head of Construction and Building Services, you will teach personal development, employability, and life skills, and may also support vocational and technical curriculum delivery across college departments. You will be responsible for planning engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and maintaining accurate records, while also acting as a course tutor for a designated student group.



The role involves providing both academic and pastoral support to help students overcome barriers to learning and engage positively with their studies. You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the curriculum offer, contribute to quality assurance processes, and support students with additional needs through referrals and signposting. Flexibility and a strong understanding of the diverse needs of learners within the Construction and Building Services area are essential.



The ideal candidate will hold a degree or an equivalent vocational/technical qualification and possess experience teaching or training students who may present challenging behaviours and attitudes. You will demonstrate a strong awareness of best practices within your subject area and apply this knowledge to curriculum development. A deep understanding of student-centred learning is essential, along with the ability to build effective working relationships with learners. Additionally, you should be confident in making considered decisions and, when appropriate, taking calculated risks to support student progress and innovation within the curriculum.



Successful candidates may be able to apply for a recruitment and retention payment through the Department for Education, Targeted Retention Incentive. providing they are within their first five years of teaching within Further Education.
