Who we're looking for:
We're seeking two experienced and versatile Business Lecturers/Senior Lecturers who are confident teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and who are comfortable with the wide range of tasks associated with delivering and administering business programmes, including programme leadership.
As we are a small university with a close-knit teaching team, flexibility and a collaborative approach are essential; our ideal candidates will be comfortable teaching across a range of business disciplines such as HR, marketing, finance, entrepreneurship, operations, supply chain, and research methods.
They should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong grasp of curriculum development, assessment methodologies, and learning enhancement strategies is essential. Prior experience in academic advising, programme development, and engagement with accrediting bodies would be highly advantageous. The candidates should be organised, able to work autonomously, and hold a commitment to maintaining high academic standards. Experience as an academic link tutor, and the willingness to take on this important quality assurance role with our partners, is also highly desirable. Experience of supervising doctoral students, and a willingness to develop in this area, would be a strong advantage.
What you'd be doing:
Delivering engaging and high-quality teaching across a range of business subject areas at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Supervising student research projects and dissertations and contributing to the development of doctoral supervision.
Acting as an academic link tutor to support and quality assure teaching delivered through our partner institutions.
Contributing to the wider work of the department and the University, including curriculum development, student support, programme leadership opportunities, and team-based projects.
You'll need to enjoy:
Working to your values:
we care about how people behave as well as what they achieve.
Collaborating with others:
getting involved in the wider academic life of a small, collaborative department where flexibility and teamwork are key, as well as broader University projects and strategies.
Supporting student success:
Guiding students through their academic journey with effective engagement, supervision and academic advising.
Teaching across disciplines:
Delivering a broad range of business subjects and adapting to the diverse learning needs of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Where you'll work:
In this role, you'll be based in the Department of Social Sciences, Business and Media on our green campus in the north of Plymouth.
Our current hybrid working policy means you can work from home or on campus, but you will be required to maintain strong campus links and be available on-site at least two days per week.

Supporting our people:
At Marjon, we are firmly committed to supporting every member of staff who works for us. Our Balance programme of health and wellbeing activities aims to help you to look after your physical health, nutritional health, mental health and social health.
We recognise that our recruitment might bring in staff who are new to higher education and are bringing knowledge and expertise from other fields and practice. We want to ensure that all our academic staff are appropriately qualified to teach in HE and have the confidence to do so; to support this, we offer a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) to all new teaching staff without an existing teaching qualification. This provides our new staff with an opportunity to develop their understanding and practice of learning, teaching and pedagogic research/research management in higher education, and enables us to maintain our high standards of teaching.
We're big believers in the importance of work/life balance. Many of our employees work flexibly and they are able to apply for parental leave and time off for dependants. As well as this, Academic staff enjoy 35 days' holiday, plus Christmas closure days and eight bank holidays. This equates to 45 (full-time equivalent) days.
