Lecturer in Social Work

The University of West of Scotland are recruiting for a Lecturer in Social Work to join our School of Education and Social Sciences on a fixed term basis of 8 months. The post offers an excellent opportunity for an individual to be immersed in a rich academic environment that recognises quality in education, research and enterprise, and international engagement.

The successful applicant will be engaged in the development of educational thinking, practice and research in the broad areas of curriculum design, learning and teaching, and assessment. Using contemporary pedagogies, particularly co-creation and active learning, the post holder will design, deliver and assess areas of theoretical and professional practise in Social Work and be eligible for professional registration with the regulator in Scotland, contributing to all of the social work programmes, in our undergraduate BA and Graduate Apprenticeship portfolio and MSc Conversion.

The successful candidate should have the following:

Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject area. Postgraduate qualification or (close to completion) Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development Experience in teaching, assessment and/or supporting students in Higher Education, including a strong awareness of current pedagogical Previously provided personal tutoring in Higher Education. A working knowledge of teaching and learning design for blended, online or hybrid delivery including use of real-world/authentic assessment. Facilitating one-to-one and/or group sessions with Higher Education students. Delivered enhancement in learning, teaching or student support including working collaboratively with different stakeholders in a change environment. Experience of record-keeping and maintaining and reporting on multiple sources of data.
