The Role



As an Accounts Apprentice at Hutchinson Thomas, you will gain valuable insight into the world of Legal Accounting. The Accounts team will aim to train you in general financial transactions and reporting, billing and client matters and in compliance and administration of accounting. Working in an experienced team of legal accounting professionals is the perfect way to kick-start your career in the finance world!

Essential Skills



Basic Computer Skills: Familiarity with operating systems, hardware components, and software applications. Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot common accounting issues and find solutions. Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication, both written and verbal, with team members, clients and third parties. Customer Service: Understanding of customer service principles and maintaining a positive attitude when dealing with client or third-party queries. Strong Numerical Aptitude: Taking a proactive approach to all accounting tasks set.

Desirable Skills



Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within a team to achieve common goals. Independence: Initiative to work independently and seek solutions before escalating issues. Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to new challenges and changes in accounts technology. Attention to Detail: Precision and care in handling tasks to avoid errors and ensure quality support. Skills to Develop During Apprenticeship

Ideally the candidate will study in Neath Port Talbot College

Responsibilities



Process all financial transactions accurately and efficiently, including client payments, invoices, bill postings and disbursements. Ensure compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts rules and other relevant regulations governing legal accounting practices. Perform daily reconciliations and monitor bank accounts for incoming and outgoing funds. Handle petty cash transactions and maintain accurate records of cash receipts and payments. Assist with month-end and year-end financial procedures, including preparation of financial reports, reconciliations, and analysis of financial data. Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to improve financial controls and efficiency.
