We are seeking to recruit two Legal Secretaries / Wills & Probate Assistants or Junior Fee Earners to join our busy and growing Wills and Probate department at our Cross Gates, Leeds office.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent law graduate or an experienced legal secretary who wishes to build a long-term career in private client work within a stable, professional, and well-regarded firm. The successful candidates will be motivated, reliable, and keen to develop their skills while supporting both fee earners and clients.

The Role

This is a combined legal, administrative, and client-facing support role. You will play an important part in the smooth running of the department and in delivering a high standard of service to our clients.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing general legal and office administration support Audio and copy typing of correspondence and legal documents Preparing letters, forms, and legal paperwork Managing files, scanning, and post Answering telephone calls and dealing with client enquiries professionally Making clear and accurate attendance notes Keeping files organised, compliant, and up to date Assisting with basic figures and simple accounts information Liaising with clients, including elderly and vulnerable clients, in a calm, professional, and empathetic manner
Applicants with previous Wills and Probate experience should highlight this clearly in their application.

The Person We Are Looking For

We are looking for individuals who take pride in their work and conduct themselves professionally at all times. The ideal candidate will be:

Well presented, organised, and dependable Confident in written English, with strong grammar and attention to detail (this is essential in a legal environment) Comfortable and confident when speaking with clients, including elderly clients Proactive, with a positive and practical "can-do" attitude Willing to ask questions, learn, and develop Not afraid to make mistakes, take feedback, and improve Naturally empathetic, with strong listening skills Capable of taking clear, accurate notes and managing information carefully Reasonably comfortable working with numbers A good team player who can also work independently Ideally holds a driving licence and has access to a car (preferred, but not essential)

Skills & Experience

Strong analytical ability to read, understand, and interpret legal documents Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple matters at once while maintaining accuracy Previous administrative or legal office experience is highly desirable Strong client care and customer service skills when dealing with clients and external organisations Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively in a busy environment Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail

Working Arrangements & Salary

This is an office-based role at our Crossgates, Leeds office Normal working hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday Full-time and part-time positions are available This is an entry-level to experienced role, with salary at National Minimum / National Living Wage, plus standard holiday entitlement including bank holidays and other usual benefits

Pay: 18,500.00-25,000.00 per year
