Taylors Solicitors have been established in Headless Cross and assisting the residents of Redditch since the 1970s. We are a small, friendly, local firm who aim to provide a personal service to clients requiring help with residential conveyancing matters or Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Probate matters.
There are two solicitors who deal with the Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Probate matters assisted by a legal assistant/secretary and there is a Solicitor and Legal Executive who deal with conveyancing matters assisted by a legal assistant/secretary.
The firm is owned by Jayne Lesley Hill who has over 35 years experience as a solicitor. Jayne's aim is to run a firm that is professional but maintains a friendly and relaxed atmosphere for both clients and staff.
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join our firm. The successful candidate will provide essential administrative support to Jayne and her colleague who deal with the Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and probate matters.
Please note that due to the size of our firm we do not take on trainee solicitors so the role would not be suitable for someone hoping to gain a training contract in future.
Duties
Organising appointments, meetings, and court dates, ensuring all deadlines are met
Opening and maintaining legal files and documentation with accuracy and confidentiality
Setting up anti money laundering checks
Typing letters and other documents as dictated by fee earners.
Drafting, proofreading, and editing legal correspondence, reports, and documents including basic wills and lasting powers of attorney under instruction from fee earner.
Liaising effectively with clients, courts, and external agencies to facilitate communication.
Handling incoming calls and providing excellent customer service to clients and visitors
Assisting with billing, invoicing, and other financial administrative tasks
Dealing with archive formalities at the end of a matter.
Attending appointments with fee earners and assisting with will signings.
Attending out of office with fee earners on occassions to assist with document signing and witnessing.
Skills
Excellent customer service abilities to maintain professional relationships with clients and colleagues. We deal with bereaved persons so a sympathetic and caring manner is essential.
Proven administrative experience within a legal or professional setting
Outstanding organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently under tight deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal management software is desirable
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
