Role and Responsibilities for our Legal Counsel

As our legal counsel, you will be an experienced lawyer with a strong background in commercial contracts, corporate and compliance matters, preferably with some experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries. As part of a team, you will handle a variety of matters from the full spectrum of Evotec\xe2\x80\x99s commercial activities, provide legal advice to the business on a range of topics and support the UK business on data protection, regulatory and other compliance matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be supporting the UK operations and UK enabling functions on all matters of contracting, compliance and corporate transactional and legal matters: this includes drafting, reviewing, and negotiating all kinds of commercial agreements (in particular supply and procurement related agreements, license, collaboration agreements, material transfer agreements, software and IT agreements, confidentiality, consultancy agreements, and other types of commercial contracts).
  • Support company secretarial activities for the UK affiliated companies.
  • Support operations and other functions in the UK on legal and compliance matters.
  • Develop an understanding of the full range of Evotec capabilities and platform technologies, the company\xe2\x80\x99s approach to risk, and work to enhance the existing relationship of the legal team with internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare and review standard operating procedures, policies, and contract templates, and contribute to process improvement initiatives in the legal team.

Education and Experience (essential)
  • Qualified UK lawyer with at least 5 years post-qualification experience.
  • In-house and/or private practice experience in the Pharmaceutical/life sciences sector.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Clear and open communication style to interact effectively across functional, geographic, and cultural boundaries within the company and externally.
  • Well-developed analytical and critical thinking skills. Exceptional attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in all contractual documents.
  • Self-starter who is resourceful and able to work effectively both independently as well as with a team.
  • Solid negotiation skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Can handle the complexity of the work under pressure and meet deadlines while remaining highly organized, prioritising, and managing multiple tasks, and providing high-quality work.

We offer a competitive salary and a fantastic benefits package and annual bonuses, plus, expenses covered where travelling is required.
  • Pension on completion of (but not subject to) your 3-month probationary period. Contributions 6% for employees (salary sacrifice) and 6% for the employer. The employee can opt to increase their contribution and the employer will match the increase up to a maximum of 7.5%.
