a day in the life: what you\'ll do

Based in the London Store Support Centre and reporting to the Director of Legal for EMEA, you will be a key hire for our legal team at a truly exciting time as we enchance and grow our regional capability. The role is a broad commercial legal role with primary responsibility for partnering with our Franchise and Business Development teams as we look to develop new and exciting revenue streams and extend our brand to new guests in new markets. You will be:

  • Working closely with Global and Regional franchise teams on every aspect of our regional contract terms and templates for licence and supply, as well as the negotiation and management of those contractual relationships.
  • Advising the business on contractual compliance and general compliance requirements for our franchise partners across a number of areas and dealing with contract queries and amendments.
  • Working with teams to operationalise our franchise contracts cross-functionally. This will involve building close working relationships and collaboration across functions like product, digital, technology, brand, marketing and finance.
  • Additionally supporting other regional initiatives designed to grow and develop brand awareness such as strategic sales partnerships, wholesale agreements and collaborations.
  • Helping to enable and streamline our new market entry strategy.
  • Developing and maintaining close working relationships across the business - including with both the regional teams and global legal teams. Taking time to understand lululemon\'s strategy and commercial goals.
  • Proactively driving continuous improvement in regional ways of working, including the use of technology and other solutions to drive process improvements and manage risk.
  • Thinking laterally and driving practical and innovative commercial solutions to problems.
  • Managing the effective instruction of external counsel and other service providers.
  • Providing support to the Legal Director on lululemon\'s key strategic initiatives and projects.
Qualifications, skills & experience
  • Solicitor qualified to practice in England and Wales. As a guide, we are looking for someone with some post-qualification experience of drafting commercial contracts although all exceptional candidates with the correct level of expertise and experience will be considered.
  • Commercially-minded, with a broad understanding of business operations, commerce and finance.
  • Technically capable with a good, broad knowledge of the laws, regulations and processes which govern the key operative aspects of retail and consumer-led businesses in the UK and Europe.
  • Experience in working in a relevant in-house environment whether through secondment or through a previous in-house role would be of value. Experience of franchise contracts and an understanding of franchise businesses would be extremely relevant.
  • Strong communication skills and able to present confidently to senior level decision makers.
  • Strong analytical and technical drafting skills, detailed-minded and ability to work independently.

Role Classification

This role is classified as Hybrid under our global SSC Hybrid Workplace Policy: In-person collaboration is important, and much of the role can be performed remotely. Work is performed from the office at least 3 days per week.
