The A Side: A Day in The Life
Primarily to provide comprehensive support to the Legal & Business Affairs team, including managing the diary of EVP Legal and Business Affairs and keeping the department running smoothly and assisting other members of the team, where required.
The B Side: Skills & Experience
The key duties of the Legal & Business Affairs Intern will consist of but are not limited to:Assisting Mercury Studios' Legal & Business Affairs team on a broad range of legal and business affairs deals - principally focusing on the production and distribution of audio-visual content, including TV, film and digital.
Assisting with drafting of various production and distribution related agreements, as well as general correspondence and administration.
Assisting with handling legal and business affairs related issues across a variety of internal departments.
Updating relevant internal systems to reflect rights positions, maintaining and updating rights in contracts database system arising from new deals.
Providing admin & other support to the music licensing team relating to music copyright/music clearance
General legal, commercial, and administrative duties as and when requested.
Using Word, Outlook, Excel, and rights management systems.
Answering telephone calls and taking messages where necessary as well as fielding calls for the department and dealing with calls on own initiative.
Answering queries and or redirecting them where necessary.
Preparing and issuing own correspondence as necessary.
Managing the payment of supplier invoices into the dept. via the Universal Payment System.
Filing, both current and archived. Archiving files as necessary. Scanning documents and saving to shared drives.
Other general administrative duties, including providing assistance to other teams within the studio, as requested by the manager from time to time.
The job holder will ensure:Telephone queries are answered in a professional, efficient and courteous manner.
Communication is performed appropriately and effectively with all levels within the Company and externally.
All work is produced to a high standard of accuracy within agreed deadlines.
Problems, issues or requests for information are communicated to the Legal & Business Affairs team in a timely manner.
Department filing is kept up to date.
Requests for assistance from members of the team are greeted promptly with a helpful and flexible approach.
Person SpecificationBright, outgoing, pro-active individual with keen interest in pursuing a career in the music and entertainment industry.
Excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to communicate with people at all levels.
Excellent prioritisation skills and the ability to multitask demands from across the business.
Accurate drafting skills and great attention to detail.
Ability to show own initiative.
GDL/LPC qualification and/or paralegal experience preferable.
Music or TV and film production experience and a working knowledge of copyright desirable.
Accurate typing skills.
Good IT skills, especially in Word and Excel.
Excellent spelling and grammar.
Proven experience of working under own initiative and as part of a team.
Proactive approach to work, able to pre-empt problems before they occur.
Able to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Excellent organisational skills.
Committed with a flexible, "can-do" attitude.
