We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills and a solid understanding of legal terminology and procedures. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our office, providing essential support to our legal professionals while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
Duties
Provide comprehensive administrative support to lawyers, including managing schedules and appointments.
Prepare, proofread, and format legal documents such as briefs, contracts, and correspondence using Microsoft Word.
Conduct audio typing for dictations and transcribe legal documents accurately.
Maintain organised filing systems for both physical and electronic documents, ensuring easy retrieval of information.
Communicate effectively with clients, court personnel, and other stakeholders via telephone, email, and in-person interactions.
Utilise Microsoft Excel for data management and reporting as required.
Assist in the preparation of case files for court hearings and meetings.
Perform general office duties such as managing correspondence through Outlook, ordering supplies, and maintaining office equipment.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar administrative role within a legal environment is preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) with strong IT skills.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while meeting deadlines.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an emphasis on professionalism.
Experience in audio typing is highly desirable.
A keen attention to detail is essential to ensure accuracy in all tasks performed.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
