Role: Legal Secretary - Family



Place of work: Glasgow, City Centre



Contract type: Full-time, Permanent



Working Hours: Monday Friday, 9am 5pm




Are you an experienced Legal Secretary within a Family department/team? Can you work within a fast-paced environment with accuracy & confidence? Jones Whyte are looking to recruit an efficient and organised Legal Secretary to join our busy Family department.

The Role:




For this role, you will work specifically within the Family department but will also support the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Legal Secretaries during any absence or holidays.


As a Legal Secretary, you will provide administrative support to fee earners, audio typing, drafting court documentation, as well as proof reading and formatting documents. You will also be responsible for taking and making calls on behalf of the fee earners, relaying accurate and speedy correspondence as well as always ensuring accuracy and professionalism. Previous secretarial experience is essential.


Our Family department is made up from 2 Partners, 2 Associate Solicitors, 1 Senior Solicitor, 3 Solicitors, 1 Trainee Solicitor and 2 Consultants. There are also another 2 other Legal Secretaries who support the department. Separately we have a Legal Support team who handle the mail & court dates across Dispute Resolution, Family and Litigation.

Responsibilities:



Maintaining contact with the courts regarding cases and clients Ensuring all processes and procedures are always adhered to Opening and closing clients' files Ensuring files are maintained to a high level Instructing service of court documents Monitoring key dates and ensuring deadlines are met and Keeping compliance procedures up to date on all files and matters Acting as first point of contact for the team Dealing with enquiries in a professional manner

Requirements:



Previous Family secretarial/administrative experience within a legal environment Previous Audio Typing Experience Proficient in producing court documentation Strong, clear and concise communication skills Excellent attention to detail Organised, punctual and a professional attitude Ability to work independently Empathetic and kind individual with professional phone manner Proficient with MS Office & case management systems
