We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join our Family Law Department. Working with just one fee earner on a full time basis. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role by managing administrative tasks, ensuring efficient office operations, and facilitating communication within the firm. This position requires a proactive individual who is organised and possesses strong IT skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively.
You should be familiar with the HMCTS portal, Financial and Children Act Applications.
Duties
Proficient audio typist and familiar with digital dictation.
Competent in the use of MS word, Outlook gained in a working environment, HMCTS portal, track changes etc.
Familiarity with using a Case Management System
Arranging appointments, dealing with client queries in person and by phone whilst using MS Outlook.
Maintain accurate filing systems for both physical and electronic documents. Opening and closing files and liaising with the fee earner on any action required.
Assist with the preparation of case files and work well under pressure to comply with deadlines. Ensure all documentation is up to date.
Confident and assertive whilst sympathetic and understanding towards clients who may be vulnerable or distressed, whilst remaining professional and upholding confidentiality at all times.
You will also be liaising with other professionals such as counsel.
Skills
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Proficiency in IT applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Effective time management skills to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in all work produced.
Previous experience within a legal firm and family law department is advantageous but not essential.
